Q: What was your initial reaction when you found out you'd be interviewed by Kerry Washington?
A: Crazy thing, I was contacted through LinkedIn. The day the notification popped up and the message had little detail to what the "opportunity" was. Once they reached out via email and told me they wanted Kerry Washington in partnership with Quickbooks to interview me I reread the email at least 10 times to make sure I was reading it correctly. I was in office trying to hold in my excitement but I was definitely in complete shock.
Q: How has this experience inspired or influenced the vision you have for Hoop Mobb moving forward?
A: When opportunities like this come around it's always the boost you need as an entrepreneur. The day to day grind can be hard but this inspired me to keep going because you never know who's watching and what new experience can be right around the corner.
Q. How did it feel to have your story and brand highlighted by someone like Kerry Washington?
A: To come on set and have thee Kerry Washington already know about the brand and our story was one of those "pinch me" moments. When I'm out and about I'm never afraid to approach people and introduce myself and Hoop Mobb but the be recognized by Kerry who is so big on community and people, it was a great feeling.
Q: How did you choose what hoops to wear for the interview? And which hoops were they?
A: I chose the Baby Fat Hoops in gold because they're such a staple in our collection. People have known and loved these hoops for years now and I wanted to wear something that was a statement yet simple at the same time.
Q: What hoops would you choose for Kerry and why?
A: I could definitely see Kerry rocking some Baby Fat Hoops or Melanated Hoops, she doesn't seem like she's afraid to make a statement.
Q. What was the biggest takeaway from this experience?
A: The biggest takeaway I got from this experience is that we're on to something. Our brand has so much in store for us - more people to connect with, more ways to show up for our customers, so we just have to keep going.
Q. What was the most unexpected or memorable moment during the interview?
A: The most unexpected moment was Kerry and Intuit Quickbooks presenting us with $10,000 to continue to grow our business! I had no clue they were going to do that and it was the icing on the cake for this once in a lifetime opportunity.
